Shifting Shades

 Magnetic polish is so fun, but so hard to capture on camera. These photos didn't catch the shifting cat's eye effect, but they at least got the color shift of the multichrome! I added multichrome flakies as well for some extra fun, and then a little bit of decoration using gel paint and some dipping powder.

Layered quite a few stamps to make these nails! I also had the slightly tricky task of reversing the bird image by stamping to a second stamper - took a few times to get it to transfer properly.

Day 30: Challenge Day - Simple Design

 For the last day of our month of nail art, my friend challenged me to do something simple. So I decided to take a multichrome polish since I already have trouble covering up the lovely shifting hues, and just add a tiny accent.

 I used a single coat of the amazing Dance Legend Knight over China Glaze Liquid Leather. I love this copper-to-pewter multichrome so much, it's magic!

 As a tiny little accent, I added a metal square to my middle two nails and put a square nail gem in the center. Not much, just something for a little extra punch.

Day 27: Holographic Heaven

 I'm definitely going to have to take some photos of sparkly holo goodness in the sunlight tomorrow! I love linear holos so much. They're like magic!

 I began with a coat of KBShimmer Myth You Lots over Wet n Wild Black Creme. Myth You Lots is one of my favorite polishes, bar none. It's so shifty and holo-tastic! It's always so hard to do anything to cover up that loveliness, so I decided to go minimal.

 I decided to test out the stamping decal technique using a design from Pueen plate 32. I removed a bit from the bottom of the design to give more space for the silver to shine. The black stamping was done in B.M.C. Noir Black. I filled in the spaces with blue holo Color Club Over the Moon and silver holo Color Club Harp on It. I like how the colors compliment the shifty multichrome rather well, even when it shifts to warmer hues.

Swirls on Scouse

 For a little inspiration, I asked the Random Number Generator to pick a polish for me. It fell on Butter London Scouse, a beautiful blue shimmery polish with a bright purple flash that gives it a duochrome effect.

 I really like the formula to Scouse. It's a bit thin, but three coats is enough for full coverage.It's so shimmery! I adore this shade of blue, and when you add in the purple flash it's just perfect to me.

 I didn't want to cover all of the lovely blue up, so I decided to just accent things with a stamped design and some studs. I used SpaRitual Copper and a design from Pueen plate SE01A. I love these new Pueen plates and can't wait to use them some more! The studs are actually 'nail heads' from the scrapbooking section at the craft store. I love their copper color and they're the perfect size for nail art.

Blaze of Glory

This is the beautiful and amazing Blaze by Daily Hues Lacquer. It is amazing duochrome bronze/copper linear holo. I took so many photos trying to catch the beauty of this color!



Blaze was easy to work with, and these photos show three coats, though it was passable with just two. The formula was on the thicker side, but not unmanageable.

The shift from soft bronze/gold to reddish copper is fairly subtle, but definitely present. The amount of holographic flair is rather amazing, without really dulling the color. Normally I can barely capture holographic sparkle in my lightbox, so I'm amazed it was bright enough to show up in these first photos!

Dance Legend Knight

 

 Sorry about all of the swatch posts lately, but I couldn't wait til Sunday to post this one! I finally dived in to the indie pool and ordered some polish from Dance Legend. It took nearly 60 days to arrive from Russia, but it was totally worth it!

This is Dance Legend Knight, a limited edition color in their Chameleon multichrome line. I loved what I saw in photos online, and in person it was beyond amazing.

These photos are two layers of Knight over Sinful Colors Black on Black. It would be fine in two or three coats on its own, but I wanted to boost it a little and conserve all that I could.

 Knight shifts all the way from a blue pewter to green to gold to reddish bronze. The range of color is amazing! It doesn't take much of an angle change to suddenly be showing an entirely different color!

 I was impressed with the finish, too! I did have more brush strokes and a few bubbles on my right hand (not pictured) but my left hand had barely any visible brush strokes.
